Mass Digital’s journey through the intricate soundscape of house and techno is a testament to his ability to blend deeply emotive melodies with the pulsating energy of electronic music. Over his fifteen-year career, the Serbian producer has released a multitude of original productions and remixes across a range of respected international labels, capturing the hearts of listeners worldwide.
In his most recent endeavors, Mass Digital has forged a deep connection with Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream imprint, which has elevated his presence in the organic and melodic house scenes. The organic sound, characterized by lush, flowing tracks imbued with nature and emotion, resonates profoundly with the label’s devoted audience, allowing him to reach fans who appreciate the subtleties of this evolving genre.
His latest EP for Vibe Me To The Moon represents an exciting new chapter, as it leans towards a more classic deep house direction enriched by soulful vocals, groove-led arrangements, and influences from R&B. In a recent conversation, Mass Digital reflects on his creative evolution, the organic house movement, and the importance of genre experimentation in his artistic journey.
EG: Hi Mass Digital, welcome to EG! To start on a personal note, where are you right now, and what has life been like for you lately, both in and out of the studio?
Mass Digital: Hey EG, Mass Digital here. At the moment, I’m in the studio making some new vibes. Enjoying the spring weather and riding my bicycle whenever I get some free time. It’s a good balance between the studio and enjoying life outside.
EG: Since 2020, many of your current fans have discovered your music through several tracks released on Lee Burridge’s iconic imprint, All Day I Dream. How has this chapter of your career been developing, and what has this exposure meant for you as an artist?
Mass Digital: Yeah, it’s fascinating how the right opportunity can connect you with a global audience. Mr. Lee Burridge is a modern music legend, and being part of the ADID family has been incredibly significant for my career. His endorsement has helped me reach listeners I never imagined I’d connect with. It’s a privilege to contribute to such a respected label.
EG: Your work in the organic house space has resonated with a global audience. What do you think people connect with most in that sound, and do you feel there is any outside pressure to continue in that direction?
Mass Digital: I feel fortunate that listeners recognize and appreciate my music within the organic house movement. People connect with the emotions behind my tracks; it’s always my mission to uplift their spirits and evoke that inner spark of love. If that means evolving into different sounds, I’m all for it.
EG: Your latest EP on Vibe Me To The Moon marks a noticeable shift toward a more classic deep house aesthetic, with heavy R&B influences. What inspired this musical direction?
Mass Digital: It’s a natural evolution for me. I’ve always had a love for deep house and classic sounds. As a producer, I believe it’s vital to explore different directions. Staying stagnant in one genre can lead to creative burnout, and experimenting allows us to grow and find our true voice.
“Music production is my passion, my job, and I just can’t live without it. I don’t know what the secret is, but maybe it’s a low-profile life — no stress, no rush, calmness, faith, peace”
EG: Was this a conscious move away from the organic and melodic house sound, or more of a natural evolution in your creative process?
Mass Digital: It was a bit of both. The organic house scene has become saturated with similar sounds and vibes. I found myself craving something different, yet I fully appreciate that genre and its influence on my music. I know I’ll revisit it in the future because it’s a foundational part of my journey.
EG: Can you walk us through the creation of these two tracks on the EP, ‘Needing You’ and ‘Into Your Love’? Did these tracks emerge from the same session, or did they develop independently?
Mass Digital: My workflow typically starts with great melodies or vocals. In this case, it all started with some beautiful vocals. From there, sweet deep housey synths emerged, and before I knew it, I had two fantastic tracks. The creative flow was strong, and I’m pleased with how they turned out.
EG: The vocals and musicality on this EP feel especially emotive and soulful. What draws you to this R&B vocal aesthetic?
Mass Digital: For me, house music is synonymous with sweet, soulful vocals. They create a connection that listeners remember long after hearing a track. It’s my favorite flavor, and I think it adds depth to any production.
EG: This marks your second release for Vibe Me To The Moon. How would you describe your relationship with the label, and what made it the right home for this release?
Mass Digital: It’s been great collaborating with Vibe Me To The Moon. After my first release, I was impressed with their professionalism and vision, so it made perfect sense to continue our partnership. Their commitment to quality aligns well with my artistic goals.
EG: With over 15 years in the industry and an extensive discography, how do you continue to keep your sound fresh while staying true to your identity?
Mass Digital: Time flies! I stay true to my identity by infusing my core elements into every track. But I also know that evolution is key. It’s about leading a calm, low-profile life with no stress; it fuels my creativity and keeps my music vibrant and relevant.
EG: When starting a new track, what typically comes first for you — groove, lyrics, melody, or atmosphere?
Mass Digital: Melody and vocals usually come first for me. I love experimenting with piano melodies before crafting the groove. Those initial vibes set the stage for everything else to follow.
“It’s not good to be stuck in one genre for a long time. Experiment, explore”
EG: Your catalog spans multiple styles over the years. Do you see these as different phases of one evolving sound, or separate creative lanes you revisit?
Mass Digital: I view it as a continual evolution, rather than distinct genres. While I do appreciate the importance of signature sounds, experimenting and adapting is how I maintain passion and keep my music relevant over time.
EG: Looking ahead, should we expect more releases in this deeper, more soulful direction or continued exploration across different styles?
Mass Digital: The future looks bright, filled with fresh surprises and good vibes. You can expect more deep and housey tracks, as well as continued exploration. The music landscape is changing, and as artists, we need to adapt without losing sight of our roots. The essence of music is to enrich lives and spread happiness.
