This Year’s Gottwood Promises to Be More Ambitious Than Ever
Festival Season Is Here
As summer makes its glorious return, festival season kicks off, offering a plethora of options for those eager to escape the urban sprawl or simply indulge in a weekend of revelry. Whether you long to frolic in the countryside or prefer the convenience of a tube ride home after an exhilarating day, there’s something for everyone. Among the myriad of choices, Gottwood stands out as the quintessential gathering for electronic music lovers.
A 15-Year Journey
Nestled in the enchanting woodlands of North Wales, Gottwood is preparing to celebrate its 15th anniversary. What began as a humble gathering powered by word-of-mouth has transformed into one of the most anticipated dance music events of the summer. Scheduled to unfold over three electrifying days next weekend, this year’s festival promises to break new ground—an evolution that festival founder Tom Carpenter is genuinely excited about.
Expanded Licensing and Programming Horizons
In a significant milestone, Gottwood has been granted a 24-hour license for several of its captivating stages. This crucial development allows for a broader and more dynamic approach to programming. Carpenter explains, “This means we can be more ambitious with our programming – and bring together a mix of established names, our underground favorites, and plenty of emerging DJs from across the electronic music scene.” This expanded scope not only elevates the festival experience but also reflects the growing diversity of the electronic music genre.
Lineup Highlights: A Dance Music Lover’s Dream
This year’s lineup boasts an impressive array of talent, with Camden Town DJ Call Super being one of the many notable acts. Known for his multifaceted sound, Call Super is expected to bring an unforgettable performance to the festival. Another standout on the bill is Jane Fitz, who has made waves in the underground house and techno scene since the 1990s. Fitz’s mesmerizing sets blend elements of house, techno, acid, and ambient, and she is set to light up The Curve Stage on June 11 as part of Butter Side Up’s takeover, joining fellow artists Grant Dell, DANCE PROTOCOL, and Hamish & Toby.
A German Electronic Influence
As is tradition with many prominent electronic music festivals, Gottwood features an impressive representation from Germany. Heavyweights like Zip, Binh, and Voigtmann will grace the lineup, each bringing their unique flair in minimal, house, electro, and techno. These artists are renowned for their contributions to the electronic genre, and their involvement underscores the festival’s commitment to showcasing top-tier talent.
Tribute to Crazy P and New Sounds from Sweely
Adding to the festival’s vibrancy, Crazy P returns for another round of infectious beats. Following the heartbreaking loss of vocalist Danielle Moore in 2024, their DJ sets have emerged as a tribute, ensuring that the spirit of their uplifting blend of house and disco continues to dance through the festival grounds. In addition to the established names, the lineup also welcomes rising star Sweely, a French DJ and producer whose distinct sound marries classic French house with invigorating acid and electro tones.
Beyond Music: A Holistic Experience
While the music takes center stage, Gottwood is not just about endless dancing. The festival cultivates a balance by providing wellness programming and creative spaces that encourage attendees to slow down and recharge. With the stunning backdrop of North Wales and proximity to a nearby beach, festival-goers can take a moment to breathe in nature between the musical escapades.
A Celebration of Culture and Community
After fifteen years, Gottwood has cemented its reputation as one of the UK’s most respected independent electronic music festivals. The blend of cutting-edge music and community spirit creates an atmosphere unlike any other. As this year’s edition approaches, excitement builds—setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration of creativity and camaraderie in the heart of the woods.
