The New Album: ‘Alien Metal’
Melbourne’s eclectic musical force, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, is set to release their 28th studio album, titled ‘Alien Metal’. This exciting new project follows last year’s ambitious ‘Phantom Island’ and promises to push the boundaries of their ever-evolving soundscape. As of now, the album is expected to drop this summer, although an official release date has yet to be announced.
A Journey into Artistry
‘Alien Metal‘ is said to be closely tied to ideas explored in the band’s earlier 2023 release, ‘The Silver Cord’. The album also reflects their experiences from recent “rave shows,” where traditional instrumentation was set aside in favor of a modular synth setup. This shift marks a fascinating chapter in the band’s oeuvre, exhibiting their daring experimentations within electronic dance music. The soundscape offers a darker, more experimental twist, and showcases their innate ability to evolve while retaining their distinctive identity.
Lead Single: ‘Level 5’
Accompanying the album announcement, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have released the lead single, ‘Level 5.’ This track is a captivating blend of dark electronic vibes, combining techno beats with shimmering synths and hypnotic vocal lines. Interestingly, ‘Level 5’ was crafted using a modular synthesizer, affectionately named “Nathan,” which accompanied the band on their tour last year.
