Electronic music enthusiasts have been buzzing with anticipation over the reunion of two formidable forces in the music scene—Seven Lions and Kill The Noise. Their latest collaboration, titled ‘I Need’, is set to drop on August 28 via Monstercat. This marks not only their eighth collaborative effort but also a wonderful return to Monstercat, following their beloved track ‘Cold Hearted’, which made waves when it was released in 2017. The pair have captured the hearts of fans, and with this new release, they aim to build on that success.
In terms of musical composition, ‘I Need’ marries soaring melodic progressions with high-energy drops, a signature characteristic that has defined Seven Lions and Kill The Noise’s collaborative ventures over the years. This latest release doesn’t just encapsulate the emotional intensity and weight of ‘Cold Hearted’ but also showcases a modern twist, ensuring it resonates well with both old-time fans and newcomers alike.
“We did start out with the intention of making ‘Cold Hearted’ part two, so we knew it was going to be melodic and kind of heavy. So it was pretty intentional.”

Revisiting Chemistry
For Kill The Noise, the process of creating ‘I Need’ involved a deep dive into the chemistry they established during their initial collaboration. This revisitation to their past became a reflective exercise, urging him to reconnect with the mental and emotional processes that had led to the memorable ‘Cold Hearted’.
“During the making of ‘I Need’ I was trying to remember what my thought process was when we made ‘Cold Hearted’ back in 2017 and trying to figure out how I get back to that. ‘I Need’ ended up actually being in the neighborhood of ‘Cold Hearted’ but modernized to some level.”
Kill The Noise
The collaborative journey of Seven Lions and Kill The Noise has proven to be one of the most significant partnerships in the electronic music realm. Their relationship ignited after both artists signed with OWSLA, generating a dynamic fusion of melodic songwriting and innovative bass music that continues to evolve even after nearly a decade.
