Berlin company Just 4 Noise has released Just 4 Kicks, an AI kick drum generator that makes new one-shot kicks from a text prompt. The idea is that producers can stop searching through the same shared sample folders as everyone else.If you’ve ever spent a night going through hundreds of 909 kicks to find one that cuts through a club system, the appeal is clear. You type a description and the plugin creates a unique, royalty-free one-shot inside your DAW. According to shop listings, you can shape the result with six drag-and-drop descriptors: Fat/Beefy, Heavy, Hard, Boomy, Deep and Click. Those are pretty much the words producers already use when they talk about low end.How the AI kick drum generator was trainedThe training data is the bigger story. Music Ally reports that Just 4 Noise trained its model only on audio the company owns and recorded and curated itself from the start. The company says it spent months recording this material in studios around the world so it could stick to its ethical principles. Music Ally called the launch part of a wider, positive trend in AI music tools. Many producers worry about where AI training data comes from. A tool built on the company’s own recordings will matter to them more than a long list of features.Price, formats and what’s nextThere’s no subscription. Music Ally reports a one-off price of €79 with future updates included, unlike the subscription model that’s common for plugins. Prices on the company’s website and in shops have varied, so check the current price before buying. Just 4 Kicks runs as a VST3 and Audio Units plugin on macOS and Windows. The Just 4 Noise website offers a free trial and a 30-day full refund.Kicks are just the first release. The company plans a series of similar tools: Just 4 Snares, Just 4 Hats and Just 4 Drums are coming, but no release dates have been given. Many producers prefer to tune, layer and process their own kicks, and they’ll decide whether AI-generated low end belongs in their tracks. Either way, the series is one of the few AI music tools so far built on audio its maker recorded itself.More news on BEATMAG TV.
