However they may or may not be butchering the pronunciation, the name Angine de Poitrine remains on everybody’s lips. With Dave Grohl having recently hopped aboard the bandwagon, it’s clear that the anonymous Quebec duo are really connecting with the people — Exclaim! even gave Vol. II our first 10/10 review of the year.
So it should perhaps come as no surprise that even deadmau5 is keen on the Poitrine. In fact, the producer, DJ and fellow mask-wearer is so keen that he’s been remixing their music, and I fear it actually sounds good?
The artist born Joel Zimmerman took to Instagram yesterday (April 8) to share a video clip of what he’s been up to in the studio, with Angine de Poitrine’s viral KEXP session on the monitor and a Tim Hortons to-go cup on the desk. “Feeling some kind of way,” he wrote in the caption, adding, “today’s mood” in a text overlay with a Canadian flag.
The audio proves something the world has perhaps yet to consider: Angine de Poitrine are excellent in 8-bit. deadmau5’s take on “Fabienk” has the producer bouncing his leg along wildly, and it will likely have the same effect on you. Angine video game soundtrack when?
There are lots of enthusiastic supporters in the comments, as well as some stray Quebec separatists telling Zimmerman he used the wrong flag. Check out the clip below.
