John Summit has never been one to shy away from innovation, and his latest single, “WITH ME,” epitomizes his fearless approach to music. Released under the auspices of Experts Only/Darkroom Records, this track features the alt-pop firebrand Julia Wolf and marks a significant departure from peak-time dance anthems. Instead, it invites listeners into a deeper, more introspective emotional landscape—one filled with haunting memories, unresolved desires, and lingering periods of absence.
The song serves as the third single from Summit’s eagerly anticipated album ‘CTRL ESCAPE,’ set to drop on April 15. It stands out as one of his most adventurous pieces to date, layering synths, pulsating baselines, and ethereal vocals that evoke a sense of both tension and release. Julia Wolf’s emotive delivery enhances the track’s intimacy: “you stay up all night, you don’t say what you mean / I drink down my mistakes, I almost feel you with me.” The contrasting heartfelt lyrics and robust bassline create an irresistible tension that captivates the audience.
Sharing insights about the collaboration, Summit expressed his long-standing admiration for Wolf’s unique sound. “I’ve been a big fan of Julia’s voice and indie alternative sound for a while. So when I asked her if she’d ever been on a dance record and she said no, I invited her to my Miami studio. Together, we blended our sounds to create something I believe is truly one-of-a-kind. I’m not sure what genre to classify this as, but that’s the beauty of dance music—there are no rules.”
‘CTRL ESCAPE’ is not just a collection of tracks; it’s a narrative that encapsulates Summit’s current life and experiences. The album fuses diverse genres—tech-house, dubstep, and drum and bass—reflecting both the exhilarating highs of relentless touring and large-scale stadium shows, as well as the minutiae of intimate club nights that he books to maintain a connection with his earliest fans.
As the summer approaches, Summit’s schedule proves to be vibrant and dynamic. He will embark on his Ibiza residency, headlining nine Mondays at UNVRS, making his summer debut at Labyrinth Events’ Tofte Manor in the UK, and appearing at notable festivals like Tomorrowland. September will see him return to New York for the much-anticipated second Experts Only Festival, following the sold-out success of its debut in 2025.
