Around the World: Immersed in Electronic Rhythms
Welcome to Around the World, our global feature series that follows electronic music’s most compelling acts as they navigate world tours, studio sessions, and international milestones. In this edition, we step into the orbit of Immersed, the dynamic collaborative project formed by Brazilian producers Öwnboss and Scorsi.
The Genesis of Immersed
What began as a simple team-up on their remix of Nari & Milani’s ‘Atom’, a record that has been a mainstay in Steve Angello’s sets for years, quickly unveiled a profound creative synergy. Today, Immersed has transformed into a project dedicated to crafting deep atmospheres, hypnotic grooves, and striking dynamic contrasts. Both Öwnboss and Scorsi contribute their formidable expertise: Öwnboss is celebrated for global anthems like ‘Move Your Body’, alongside mainstage appearances at Tomorrowland and Ushuaïa Ibiza, while Scorsi brings over two decades of electronic music experience, from underground drum & bass roots to major cross-genre collaborations.
Together, they have created a sonic landscape that invites listeners to lose themselves in rhythm and melody, the perfect embodiment of their brand name, Immersed.
The Vibrant Pulse of Hong Kong
Öwnboss shared his vivid impressions of Hong Kong, a city he found unexpectedly mesmerizing. “The energy is unreal,” he remarked. “The food is incredible, and there was sushi for breakfast every single day.” His experience in a club there turned into an unforgettable saga; from witnessing a chaotic fight involving a Russian gang one night to performing in front of just three people the following evening, it showcased the unpredictable nature of life on tour. “Definitely one of the most unforgettable gigs of my life,” he laughed, encapsulating the wild ride of being a traveling artist.
Amsterdam: A Homecoming for Scorsi
For Scorsi, Amsterdam holds a special place in his heart. “I’ve been going there for almost 17 years,” he said, reminiscing about his initial performances with his earlier drum & bass project, C.A.B.L.E.. Beyond the clichés of the Red Light District and coffee shops, Scorsi treasures the quieter neighborhoods and architectural beauty of the city. “It has this perfect balance of being one of the busiest music capitals in the world while somehow still feeling peaceful.”
An amusing memory stands out when he stumbled upon fellow Brazilians while performing, leading to a 25-minute conversation before realizing they were all from the same country—a delightful irony underscoring the strong sense of community he finds in Amsterdam’s diverse music scene.
The Heart of Brazil: Belo Horizonte
Belo Horizonte holds a profound significance for the duo. With its rich musical culture and delicious culinary offerings, the city enchants anyone who visits. Öwnboss and Scorsi emphasized the infectious energy of the crowd there, igniting even stronger performances. “The people have an incredible passion for dance music, and you can genuinely feel that energy every time we play,” they shared.
Their last performance in Belo Horizonte was particularly memorable, featuring Marten Hørger. The party was electrifying, leading to an impromptu two-hour back-to-back set that showcased the true meaning of collaboration and camaraderie in the electronic music scene. Instead of wrapping up the night, they indulged in a two-hour breakfast afterward, highlighting the joy and connection cultivated on the dance floor that extends into everyday life.
With their rich tapestry of experiences from around the globe, Öwnboss and Scorsi continue to immerse audiences in their unique sound, forging connections through the universal language of music. As they ride the wave of their momentum and new releases, the duo is poised to leave a lasting impact on electronic music and the lives they touch along the way.
