The Freaky Deaky festival is set to make its New Orleans debut on October 30-31 at Mardi Gras World, delivering a two-night Halloween-themed experience filled with electronic music, elaborate costumes, and immersive production designed to create a haunted atmosphere.
Lineup and Headliners
This year’s lineup emphasizes crossover appeal, featuring top acts such as Porter Robinson (DJ Set), FISHER, Of The Trees, and Chris Lorenzo. Performances will take place across two stages – The Shrine and The Crypt – and encompass a variety of genres from house to techno and bass music. Other supporting artists include CID, William Black, and Layla Benitez, alongside promising local talents like Skilah, Stryfe, and Kyliente.
Event Production and Atmosphere
Mardi Gras World, typically known for its role in New Orleans’ Carnival parades, will undergo a transformation for the festival. The venue will feature a Halloween-immersive experience, including an indoor space called The Mansion with impressive decor, a Sideways Illusion Room, tarot reading sessions, and a Haunted Cinema that showcases vintage B-movies. Additionally, a costume contest will be part of the festivities, with further details to be released closer to the event.
Set Times and Afterparties
The music begins at 5 PM on October 30, with The Shrine hosting performances that lead up to Porter Robinson’s closing set before 1 AM. The Crypt will feature acts like Layla Benitez and CID. On October 31, festivities start even earlier at 3 PM, culminating in a set from FISHER. After the official performances end, attendees can continue reveling at The Metropolitan with afterparties featuring Of The Trees on Friday and Chris Lorenzo on Saturday.
Freaky Deaky's Growth
Freaky Deaky originated in Houston in 2018 and has developed into a prominent brand focusing on Halloween-themed festivals. The flagship Texas edition was relocated to Austin’s Travis County Exposition Center in 2023. Previous lineups have included renowned artists, solidifying its reputation in the electronic music scene. The introduction of the New Orleans edition marks a significant expansion for the festival, reaching audiences in Louisiana for the first time.
