Governor Gianforte Guides Great Falls Students on Career Paths in Technology and Business

Governor’s Office

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – In an inspiring initiative aimed at shaping the future of Montana’s youth, Governor Greg Gianforte recently visited Great Falls High School to engage with students on pathways to careers in technology, business, and entrepreneurship. This visit was part of the Career Exploration class offered this semester, which provides students with the chance to hear directly from Montanans thriving in various career fields.

“Giving students opportunities to learn directly from Montanans working in different fields helps them see what’s possible for their future,” Gov. Gianforte expressed during his visit. His words emphasize the importance of exposure to real-world experiences, encouraging students to envision themselves pursuing diverse paths—whether that’s through college, career training, or entrepreneurship.

During the session, Gov. Gianforte discussed his own journey through business and technology, which eventually led him to public service. His narrative serves not only as inspiration but also as a roadmap for students who might be contemplating their own future paths. He also highlighted the state’s 406 JOBS initiative, which connects Montanans with various opportunities across college, career, military, and entrepreneurship avenues. This initiative is particularly vital given the increasing demand for skills in fields like technology.

Principal Geoffry Habel of Great Falls High School stressed the importance of this career class, noting, “This class allows students to explore careers and learning opportunities that align with their interests. Having the governor visit helps students understand the opportunities available to them right here in Montana.” Such exposure is crucial for students, especially in a rapidly changing job market.

In addition to his visit to Great Falls, Gov. Gianforte has been proactive in promoting educational opportunities throughout Montana. In January, he celebrated National School Choice Week, acknowledging the essential role parents play in shaping their children’s education while highlighting the vast array of quality educational choices available. This focus on choice and quality is aligned with the governor’s broader commitment to strengthening Montana’s workforce through access to apprenticeships and work-based learning programs.

The governor’s efforts to expand the state’s Registered Apprenticeship Program have led to a significant increase in available apprenticeships, providing students with direct pathways to gain hands-on experience in their chosen fields. “Every student learns differently, and families deserve options that help their kids succeed,” Gov. Gianforte remarked, reiterating the need for a diverse educational landscape that serves the varied needs of students across Montana.

This concerted focus on expanding educational opportunities not only prepares students for meaningful careers but also aims to establish a brighter future for Montana as a whole. By fostering an environment where students can explore their passions and receive guidance from successful community members, Montana is taking significant steps to ensure that its youth are well-equipped to thrive in the ever-evolving job market.
