John Summit recently sat down with SiriusXM‘s Geronimo and Rida Naser for an in-depth conversation about his creative process ahead of his sophomore album CTRL ESCAPE. The interview, recorded in celebration of his new SiriusXM channel and Miami Music Week, offered fans a glimpse into how the Chicago producer navigates artistic evolution while maintaining his signature sound.
During the conversation, Summit addressed one of the most challenging aspects of being a successful electronic artist: balancing creative instincts with growing fan expectations. When asked how he protects his artistic vision while his fanbase continues to expand, Summit was characteristically direct about his approach. “I like to subvert expectations and I think that I like to challenge people’s tastes,” Summit explained. “Artists and people and humans always evolve and grow, and I am not the same person I was five years ago. If I made the same music, that would not feel right.”
The conversation also shifted to the upcoming April 15th date – both tax deadline and his album release day. When asked who handles his taxes, Summit revealed he now works with an accountant but still puts his auditing background to use. “I have an accountant at this point, but my job was auditing though, so I can still audit their work,” he shared, referencing his pre-music career in accounting. “April 15th is the album release date, so I’m still in busy season myself right now. It’s a little bit different of a busy season.”
The interview was recorded for Summit’s newly launched SiriusXM channel, Experts Only Radio. The channel, curated by Summit himself, features a mix of trending electronic tracks, new releases from his Experts Only record label, live DJ sets from his worldwide performances, and the tracks that established him as a chart-topping force in dance music.
Experts Only Radio takes listeners on what SiriusXM describes as “a musical journey without limits,” showcasing the variety of sounds and styles that capture the pulse of global dance culture. The channel is available exclusively to SiriusXM subscribers through the app, giving fans direct access to Summit’s musical curation and creative vision.
With CTRL ESCAPE set to drop on April 15th, Summit’s willingness to challenge both himself and his audience’s expectations suggests the sophomore album will continue his evolution as an artist while staying true to the innovative spirit that made him a household name in electronic music.
