Maceo Plex joins Radio Slave’s Rekids with the ‘Monster’ EP, arriving 28th August 2026.
Maceo Plex, a titan in the electronic music scene, launches into a new musical adventure with his latest project, the ‘Monster’ EP. Kicking off with the track ‘Flute Jam‘, listeners are taken on a thrilling ride through a progressive landscape marked by broken beats and ethereal chords. The intricate layers of sound create an immersive atmosphere that invites exploration and emotional connection.
The opening track sets a high bar, filled with drifting vocals and expansive synths that together craft a futuristic journey through sound. However, it’s the textured bass that adds the necessary weight to the overall composition, grounding it despite its cosmic undertones. As the EP progresses, Maceo Plex introduces ‘Baby Monster‘ featuring the mesmerizing vocals of Baby Monsta. This collaboration produces a dazzling Electro-Techno fusion, where chords effortlessly dance over a pulsating bass line. In this track, expect to be enveloped in an atmosphere that feels both alien and familiar, showcasing Maceo Plex’s visionary sound design.
Bringing the EP to a compelling close is ‘Cold Flow‘, a prickly breakbeat cut that marries elements of trap with the dehumanized vocals reminiscent of futuristic aesthetics. This track demonstrates precise engineering that grooves its way into contemporary rhythms, all while paying homage to the broader spectrum of genres it draws upon. Listening to ‘Monster’ feels like embarking on a cinematic exploration of sound, skillfully weaving together the realms of breaks, techno, and electro while maintaining a poignant, soulful core throughout.

With a career stretching back to the 1990s, Maceo Plex operates within a unique sonic universe, skillfully blending Electro, Techno, and House to craft something that feels perpetually fresh and innovative. His extensive experience shapes both his DJ and production work, making him a prominent figure in the underground scene for over three decades. Beyond his musical endeavors, he also serves as the head of influential labels like Lone Romantic and Ellum Audio, further establishing his legacy in the industry.
Already making waves this year, Maceo Plex has previously released the dark, 2-step sounds of ‘The Plan EP‘ through his Ellum Audio label, which notably features Baby Monsta. Now, with the release of ‘Monster’ on Rekids, he continues to break new ground, pushing the boundaries of his sound further than ever before.
Founded in 2006 by the progressive minds of Radio Slave, Rekids has evolved over the years, establishing sub-labels like Rekids Special Projects in 2017 and the latest addition, REK’D, in 2024. Under the careful guidance of Matt Edwards as the sole A&R, Rekids not only showcases emerging talent but also supports established artists, cementing its status as a reputable home for house and its accompanying sounds.
Among recent notable releases are tracks from artists DJ Minx, Butch, and Tal Fussman, reflecting the label’s commitment to quality and diversity within the house music realm. If you’re excited to dive into the sounds of Maceo Plex’s latest project, be sure to pre-save here.
