Since its inception in Goa in 2007, the Sunburn Festival has firmly established itself as one of the longest-running electronic dance music festivals in India. Over the years, it has woven itself into the fabric of the country’s music scene, hosting a myriad of international artists and drawing thousands of enthusiastic fans. The festival made a bold move to expand its horizons with its first flagship edition in Mumbai set for 2025, and this year, festival-goers can look forward to its return on December 18–19, 2026. The vibrant Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai will be the stage for a new two-day edition that promises to be unforgettable.
Four Headliners Across One Weekend
As anticipation builds for this year’s festival, the headliner announcements have begun to create buzz among fans. The Chainsmokers are the first name to be confirmed, captivating audiences with their infectious hits like Closer and Don’t Let Me Down. Their performance on December 18 marks the beginning of a three-city India tour, with subsequent shows at the Indian Sneaker Festival in Delhi on December 19 and the Sunburn Arena in Bengaluru on December 20. Their long-standing relationship with Indian audiences showcases their commitment to delivering electrifying performances.
Meanwhile, DJ Snake will also be in high demand during that weekend. He kicks things off at Sunburn Arena at NICE Grounds, Bengaluru on December 18, before heading to Mumbai the next day. Subsequently, he travels to Phuket for EDC Thailand on December 20. Renowned for hits like Turn Down for What and Taki Taki, DJ Snake’s performances in India have consistently garnered acclaim, making his lineup inclusion a highlight of the festival.
Also featured is Sebastian Ingrosso, a revered member of the legendary Swedish House Mafia. Ingrosso’s connection to this year’s venue runs deep; he last performed at Mahalaxmi Race Course during the trio’s One Last Tour in 2013. His return after a decade brings excitement as he is expected to showcase solo hits like Reload and Calling (Lose My Mind), resonating with fans of the progressive house genre from the early 2010s.
This year, Jason Derulo will be breaking new ground, marking the first time Sunburn Festival includes a pop headliner. His repertoire boasts chart-toppers such as Whatcha Say, Talk Dirty, and Swalla. Incorporating a diverse blend of genres, he promises to add a unique flavor to the lineup traditionally dominated by DJs and electronic artists, thereby expanding the musical offerings at the festival.
Mahalaxmi Race Course Returns To Sunburn
Before the flagship festival made its way to Mumbai, the Mahalaxmi Race Course was familiar turf for fans of the Sunburn brand, having hosted numerous significant shows over the years. With high-profile performances from the likes of Avicii in 2011, Swedish House Mafia in 2013, and Martin Garrix in 2016, the venue has etched its place in the history of the festival.
Last year, the festival was hosted at Infinity Bay, Sewri, from December 19–21, spotlighting international talents such as David Guetta, Above & Beyond, and Sara Landry. For 2026, the festival is taking a bold step by switching back to Mahalaxmi Race Course and condensing the main event into an exciting two-day experience, marking the first full festival held at this iconic location.
