Over Labor Day weekend on September 4th & 5th, local organizers Twisted Lines debuted the Twisted Festival at Atlanta Utility Works. The result was an unapologetic, high-energy atmosphere that marked a turning point for Atlanta’s underground music scene.
The Atmosphere & Stages: Industrial Architecture Meets Raw Energy
Inside the historic arena of Atlanta Utility Works, the atmosphere was palpable from the moment attendees stepped foot inside. The combination of weathered masonry and sprawling ironwork created an instant sense of intrigue. Designed as an expansive industrial playground, the venue facilitated three distinct environments that encouraged attendees to explore deeply while dancing fervently.
The Machinery: Enclosed within towering factory walls, this stage offered an unabashedly raw experience resonating with the gritty sound that defines techno. Heavy bass pulsed through the air, wrapping attendees in an embrace of electrifying beats.
The Ruins: Set against the backdrop of a weathered foundry, this open-air deck came alive with meticulous laser projections, artfully lighting up the aged brick structures, merging antiquity with modern visuals.
The Industrial Forest: A hidden gem tucked behind the warehouse, this outdoor area created an enchanting ambiance with the interplay of strobe lights and the organic canopy above, wrapping attendees in a mesmerizing, hypnotic open-air experience.

The stellar lineup featured an international mix of heavyweights and rising stars. Notable acts included Kobosil, Onlynumbers, Ueberrest, EMILIJA, Fenrick, BAUGRUPPE90, and Selective Response. This diverse curation merged relentless techno, hard grooves, and acid textures, expertly maintaining high energy levels from the early evening hours until the early morning.
Logistics & Transit
Efficient logistics can significantly enhance the festival experience, and this event was no exception. The location in East Point was conveniently close to Atlanta’s International Airport, just a 10- to 15-minute drive away, offering easy access for both locals and visitors alike. Rideshare options fluctuated between $5 and $25 depending on the timing, making transport straightforward.
With multiple hotels within a short five-minute drive, accommodations were plentiful. The surrounding area also offered walkable options, making it a manageable 20- to 30-minute stroll to nearby lodging, adding to the convenience of the festival experience.
Once inside, operational efficiencies stood out as well. Bar queues snaked quickly, water stations were plentiful, and entry lines remained organized even during peak hours, making the entire experience as seamless as possible for attendees.

Twisted Lines’ inaugural festival set a high bar, merging underground passion into a well-structured and community-centered format. Organizers have already confirmed plans for a return in 2027, with whispers of the potential expansion to a full three-day weekend.
