When and Where
Mark your calendars for September 5! The festival will unfold at Aussie World, transforming the popular theme park into a vibrant hub of music and celebration. Doors will swing open at 4:30 PM, leading into a full festival program running from 5 PM to 10 PM. It’s the perfect way to kick off the evening with pulsating beats and electrifying energy.
Expanded Festival Experience
This year’s festival will feature an expanded production, boasting three exciting stages. Attendees are set to enjoy an immersive music experience, complete with a diverse lineup that caters to a variety of electronic music tastes. With an array of artists performing, festival-goers can look forward to an unforgettable night.
Headliners and Lineup
The lineup features an impressive roster of headliners, including the renowned Hot Dub Time Machine, a Pendulum DJ Set, and What So Not. Alongside these heavy hitters, fans will also enjoy performances from talented artists such as Anna Lunoe, Habstrakt, Latifa Tee, Raw Ordio, Yussi, and the Bread Gang crew. In addition, the festival will spotlight 20 local artists and the winner of a DJ competition, ensuring a vibrant mix of both established and emerging talent.
Why Sunny Side Up Matters
According to festival organizer Jordan Small, the demand for live music events continues to thrive despite ongoing challenges within the industry. “It’s definitely a tough time for music events and the industry,” he said, emphasizing the unique position the Sunshine Coast occupies in hosting such events. “We’ve been fortunate on the coast to be in a space where we can run multiple large-scale events,” he added.
Expanding the Brand
The Sunny Side Up brand isn’t just confined to the Sunshine Coast. It has recently expanded across Australia, with successful events in cities like Rockhampton, Airlie Beach, and Brisbane. Small expressed pride in this expansion, noting how recent shows have sold out months in advance.
Reflecting on the first festival’s success, Small said the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. “It was a great crowd with virtually zero issues—honestly amazing when you think about thousands of people at an event with alcohol,” he remarked. This smooth experience has instilled confidence in both attendees and organizers for the upcoming event.
Addressing the Local Scene
Small pointed out a gap in the electronic and dance music scene on the Sunshine Coast. “There are some wicked live music events and venues crushing it,” he noted, highlighting the struggle local dance music fans face when seeking vibrant nights out. Many have to travel to Brisbane, a costly endeavor once you factor in gas, accommodations, and meals.
In response, Sunny Side Up aims to provide an affordable yet stellar music experience right in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, with tickets starting at just $49. “The cost of living has been a big impact on events across the board, so we’ve worked really hard to keep the tickets extremely affordable,” Small explained.
Strong Ticket Sales
Excitingly, the second release ticket sales are tracking strongly. Small noted that approximately 50% of these tickets have already been sold, highlighting a robust interest in this year’s festival.
Commitment to Quality Production
One of the core focuses for Small and his team is the festival’s production quality. “The capital cities have a much more advanced offering in this space, and we want to put something special on,” he declared, indicating a commitment to creating a memorable experience for all attendees.
With an eclectic lineup, a vibrant atmosphere, and a commitment to quality, Sunny Side Up is not just returning; it’s raising the bar for electronic music festivals on the Sunshine Coast. As excitement builds, it’s clear that this festival will be a can’t-miss event for music lovers in the region and beyond.
