Sunflower Sound System Makes Its US Debut at HEAD TRIP
In an exciting development for music lovers across the United States, HEAD TRIP has officially announced the lineup for the highly anticipated debut of the Sunflower Sound System. Scheduled for October 10-11, this unique event will be hosted at the iconic Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, promising an unforgettable weekend of sonic innovation and creativity.
The Vision Behind Sunflower Sound System
Designed by the renowned producer and DJ Sam Shepherd, also known as Floating Points, the Sunflower Sound System is the culmination of over a decade of dreaming and development. It’s not just a sound system; it embodies a bespoke, hi-fi sound environment crafted to prioritize acoustics and sonic quality. Attendees can expect an immersive audio experience inside an acoustically treated dome, where 10 custom speaker stacks will be strategically arranged in a circular formation to envelop listeners in a surround-sound atmosphere.
A Feast for the Senses
Enhancing the auditory experience, the venue will be adorned with stunning tapestries and original artwork from DJ and artist Josephine Chime, transforming the ambiance into a multisensory treat. As part of the installation, the Cosmosphere—a larger-than-life mechanical mirror ball—will play a significant role, blooming above the audience as the pulsating rhythms and melodies fill the air.
Noteworthy Performances
The Sunflower programming promises to be a thrilling showcase of diverse musical talent, bringing together artists who approach DJing and sound culture from various perspectives. Floating Points will be joined by an impressive lineup, including Avalon Emerson, Ben UFO (co-founder of Hessle Audio), and the dynamic duo Eris Drew & Octo Octa. Additionally, legendary figures such as Four Tet and pioneering dub producer Mad Professor will grace the stage, along with Detroit’s very own Theo Parrish and Emmy-nominated curator Zach Cowie. The programming will run from 3:00 PM to 12:30 AM on Saturday and from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM on Sunday.
