Hubert Sodogandji, better known as AMÉMÉ, has charted a remarkable path to his current position in the music industry. Hailing from Benin, West Africa, his earliest musical experiences were rooted in family competitions where rhythm was king. Influenced by the rich soundscapes of his childhood, he later discovered electronic music through French house tapes that were imported to his home. Before fully embracing his passion for music, he worked in banking. However, it was the analytical skills he honed during that time that would later assist him in nurturing a thriving creative community.
After investing in a basic DJ controller and self-teaching in the vibrant backdrop of New York City, AMÉMÉ moved to Berlin to dive deeper into electronic music. It was here that he founded One Tribe in 2017, a community-centric initiative designed to connect people through afro-house music. What began as a humble gathering evolved into a globally recognized collective and boutique record label, with the Cova Santa residency marking the most ambitious project to date.
AMÉMÉ’s magnetic presence behind the decks is a defining feature of his artistry, where his infectious energy and connection with the crowd transform every performance into a memorable experience.
