Serato has announced the launch of Serato DJ for iOS, a new mobile app that includes many of its core features for DJs. This app allows users to access functionalities like stem separation, built-in effects, EQ controls, key sync, cue points, and integrates streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
Mobile Features and Capabilities
The Serato DJ app is designed to support over 120 different DJ hardware setups, which include popular controllers, mixers, and turntables, as well as Digital Vinyl System (DVS) configurations. DJs can seamlessly transfer their libraries from Serato DJ Pro or Lite 5.0 to the mobile app either wirelessly or via USB-C, maintaining all essential data such as cue points and beatgrids.
Latest Updates and Features
This launch coincides with the full release of Serato DJ 5.0 on desktop, which had previously entered public beta testing a month prior. The mobile version adopts the new Lucid Beatgrids feature, crafted to accommodate tracks that fluctuate in tempo, enhancing the versatility of DJ performances.
Availability and Pricing
Serato DJ for iOS is now accessible for download on the App Store, offered in both free and premium versions, with certain advanced features restricted to the paid tier. A complete license for the app costs $149, or users can choose to bundle it with the full Serato suite for $14.99 per month.
Competitive Landscape
This move marks a significant development in the mobile DJing landscape, following similar app launches by competitors such as Algoriddim and rekordbox. It also represents a shift from Serato’s earlier mobile offering, the more simplistic Pyro app, which provided limited automated mixing capabilities.
