Following a landmark run that saw Sapiens reach its 100th release and welcome reinterpretations from rRoxymore, Floyd Lavine, and Head High, Agoria’s label returns this summer with a new twelve-track compilation.
This latest compilation showcases the innovative talent that Sapiens has become known for, featuring eleven original productions from names like DeLaurentis, Mooglie, Valentine Groove, and Greg Cerrone. In addition, a special bonus dub by Henrik Schwarz adds another layer to the diverse tapestry of sound that characterizes this collection.
The journey begins with French musician and producer DeLaurentis, who sets the scene with “Parallel.” This track blends brooding basslines with celestial vocal fragments, creating an atmosphere that sweeps listeners off their feet from the very first beat.
Next is “Forget You,” a striking collaboration between Parisian producer Mooglie and Moroccan duo WAHM. This track showcases a fusion of vibrant rhythms and rich cultural sounds, making it a standout piece from the compilation. Following this, Valentine Groove brings in deft synth work with “Que Ric,” a track characterized by its deep and driving sound, illuminated by big, sweeping piano chords. WAHM makes another appearance, teaming up with Paso Doble for “Are You Busy,” which features shadowy, heads-down sounds perfect for the late-night dance floor.
Continuing this sonic exploration, South African artist Mr Joe brings his late-night spiritual sound with Afro-tinged drums, immersing listeners into a world of deep grooves. Swiss producer Several Definitions adds his touch with “Dreaming Of You,” a heartfelt track layered with lush chords and organic vocal house grooves. Meanwhile, Parisian Ramyen introduces playful samples in the jazzy, atmospheric track “Chico,” showcasing his unique take on the genre.
The compilation reaches its apex with tracks like KitKat’s “Haunted By You,” featuring serene and seductive after-dark dub vibes, and GIOE (FR)’s “Found You,” which leans into moody, driving beats. Kiko and Olivier Giacomotto contribute with “Bring The Bass,” a hefty low-end workout that is perfect for peak hour. Finally, Greg Cerrone wraps up the collection with “Goodwill,” a seven-minute deep house odyssey that captures the essence of the Sapiens sound.
Rounding out this eclectic mix, Henrik Schwarz delivers a sparkling and sun-kissed remix of Agoria’s loopy delight “Get Away,” serving as a perfect finale to a compilation that spans a multitude of moods and grooves. From deep club cuts to ethereal atmospheric moments, this collection exemplifies a label that remains very much in motion, continuously evolving and pushing boundaries.
