Pikes Presents has handed one of their resident DJs the reins to program their smaller open-air stage, known as 528, for a special three-Saturday residency in September. While the premise might seem unremarkable at first glance, the reality is that many locals and visitors on this iconic island have been eagerly anticipating this event. As the stage commenced its operation, it delivered more than anyone could have expected, quickly reaching full capacity and creating an electrifying atmosphere.
This Saturday, September 19th, marks the grand finale of Defex’s three-week takeover of the Forest Stage, and it begs a visit from all those who revel in the vibrant island nightlife.
Throughout the summer, 528 Ibiza has become a dance haven, as thousands flock there to experience its unparalleled atmosphere. With the Garden Stage, The Club, and The Theatre providing diverse spaces for parties day and night, it has solidified its status as a favorite venue among many who visit the island.
Originally established as an amusement park back in the 1970s, 528 Ibiza has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, enhancing its offerings both visually and experientially. Yet, hidden among its many attractions lies the enchanting Forest Stage, which has emerged as a unique alternate space to the bustling Garden Stage.
Through his residency at Pikes, Defex has envisioned a concept for the Forest Stage that has thoroughly energized the scene. This impressive party-within-a-party notion elevates the Forest Stage to a second main stage status, infusing it with a distinct sound and an alternative vibe compared to its counterpart.
Over the past two weeks, Defex has carefully curated his guest line-ups to complement this vision. Week 2 saw captivating back-to-back sets featuring Maxinne, Burbuya, and Tsodor, while the first week welcomed Elisa Elisa and Claudio Ricci to the stage, both of whom shared vibes that mesmerized attendees.
If you’ve spent any time in Ibiza, chances are you’ve encountered Defex, whether it’s at Pikes, 528, or Akasha. Recognized for his distinctive lion’s mane hairstyle swaying to the rhythmic beats he curates, Defex stands out as a true mainstay of the island’s music scene.
Particularly noteworthy is The Bavarian, an Ibiza resident with a legendary background. As a co-creator of The Zoo Project long before it was reimagined as 528, he carries a wealth of experience that few can rival. His extensive experience and timeless sound resonate spectacularly at the Forest Stage.
This Saturday, Milou and Federico Grazzini, both of whom share history with Defex from the days of The Zoo Project, will return to collaborate with him at the Forest Stage. The excitement intensifies with Flashbaxx, known for his innovative live performances which add unexpected twists to classic house tracks, rounding out a well-curated lineup that promises to electrify the crowd.
Defex himself expressed his excitement for the forthcoming events, stating: “It’s been surreal, and getting wilder week by week. The feedback has been incredible. It means the world to me, all the smiling faces (many familiar) come together. It’s amazing to see that lots of people have been waiting for this.”
The evening will continue with an exhilarating line-up at the open-air Garden Stage, featuring HAAi performing alongside Young Marco, as well as Mina. Meanwhile, once the outdoor festivities draw to a close at 11 PM, The Theatre will come alive with the beats of James Lavelle and Andy Baxter.
For those who crave more of Defex’s dynamic beats, he can frequently be found at premier venues across Europe, including Sisyphos and KitKat in Berlin. Additionally, he is gearing up for an appearance at the Rave On Snow Festival in Saalbach, Austria, this December.
