Welcome Aboard: Charlie Tee Takes the Afternoon Show

One of the standout changes is the appointment of Charlie Tee as the new host of Radio 1 Dance’s daily afternoon show, airing from Monday to Sunday between 12pm and 3pm. Known for her deep-rooted passion for dance music, Charlie is excited to curate a playlist filled with the hottest new tracks, current hits, and timeless classics that have defined the dance scene over the years.

In addition, Matty Chiabi will continue to present the station’s early morning show from 6am to 9am, ensuring that listeners have a variety of engaging content throughout the day.

In another thrilling development, Martha is set to launch a brand-new monthly three-hour show dedicated exclusively to UK club culture. The show aims to shine a spotlight on the vibrant electronic underground, supporting local clubs and championing both emerging and established artists. Each episode will explore different aspects of the scene—be it a particular city, genre, or collective—highlighting the communities that contribute to the UK’s dynamic club culture.

Martha stated, “After almost three years of platforming underground club sounds on Radio 1, I want this new show to amplify, document, and reflect British club culture. I hope to build a home for our next generation of underground dance producers and celebrate the spaces we treasure so much: our clubs.”

A Fresh Line-up for The Residency

As part of the revamped lineup, The Residency on Radio 1 Dance will also welcome a new wave of talented DJs. From Thursday, August 6, listeners can catch performances from world-renowned artists like Silva Bumpa, Paige Tomlinson, Sam Alfred, and Effy. This electrifying segment will air every Thursday from 11pm to 1am, bringing some of the freshest and most innovative sounds from the dance music scene.

A special one-off show featuring award-winning DJ and producer Jonas Blue will also air on Thursday, July 30, adding to the excitement of the upcoming schedule.
