Rockcastle County’s First EDM Festival: A Celebration of Resilience and Community
In the serene landscapes of Rockcastle County, Kentucky, a remarkable event is set to unfold this summer: Riverside Sessions, the region’s first-ever electronic dance music (EDM) festival. Taking place at Rockcastle Riverside in Livingston, this festival represents not just a musical milestone, but a meaningful celebration of community, healing, and nature.
A Unique Venue for a Groundbreaking Event
Rockcastle Riverside, now under the stewardship of owner and manager Izabella Falk, provides a picturesque backdrop for the festival. Since acquiring the campground in January, Falk has been busy transforming it into a vibrant gathering place for music lovers. “It’s been so exciting, it’s a lot of work,” she shares, emphasizing her dedication to creating a welcoming environment. Falk mentions that her team is working tirelessly to prepare for both the festival and the busy season ahead.
Festival Highlights and Artist Lineup
Scheduled for July 10 and 11, with a pre-party on July 9, Riverside Sessions will feature an exciting lineup of dozens of EDM artists. This eclectic mix includes local talents and renowned acts from across the country, promising attendees an unforgettable experience filled with pulsating beats and vibrant energy. The festival aims to foster a sense of connection among people who share a passion for music and dance.
A Partnership with a Purpose
In a commendable move, Riverside Sessions will also partner with Kentucky Heartwood, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation of the Daniel Boone Forest. This collaboration aligns perfectly with Falk’s vision, as she hopes to deepen attendees’ appreciation for the natural wonders surrounding them. “We’re also hoping with this event to deepen the appreciation and the love for our national forests and for the outdoors and all natural spaces,” Falk noted, highlighting the festival’s connection to the environment.
Healing Through Music
The significance of Riverside Sessions extends beyond entertainment; it resonates deeply with the local community, particularly in light of the devastating tornadoes that struck nearby London just over a year ago. Falk recalls the harrowing experience of having a music festival interrupted by the severe storms, which brought destruction to the area. “Last year we had a tornado and that caused a lot of destruction in the area, and that was super scary,” she reflected.
Fortunately, Rockcastle Riverside escaped major damage, but the experience left a lasting impact. Falk is determined to transform the festival into a platform for healing and connection. “Music is one of the most healing things there is. I think I’ve seen it bring people together time and time again,” she emphasizes, recognizing the unifying power of music to mend hearts and foster community ties.
