Goa-based producer Varun Fernandes has released a new three-track EP titled Stronger on October 23 via Pumproom Records. This release showcases various aspects of his production style, transitioning from deeper house sounds in the track “Taken” to the progressive vibes of “Surface,” and culminating in the club-focused title track “Stronger.”
Debut on Pumproom Records
This EP marks Fernandes’ first release with Pumproom Records, contributing to a discography that already features projects on labels such as Beatfreak Recordings, Movement Recordings, Balkan Connection, Zephyr Music, and JEE Productions. His extensive experience in the underground electronic music scene is evident through the diversity within his catalog.
Background in Goa’s Music Scene
Fernandes has been a part of Goa’s electronic music community for over a decade, beginning his DJ career in 2010 while cultivating his skills as a producer. His foundational years involved working on initiatives that introduced underground house and techno to local audiences, often sharing stages with renowned DJs and gradually shaping his own musical identity.
His journey into music production was marked by his first release on The Purr Music, inspired by his residency at Chronicle. Building on this, his tracks have gained traction, showcasing detailed percussion, strong basslines, and a blend of atmospheric and club-ready arrangements.
Musical Structure of Stronger
The Stronger EP is thoughtfully organized, featuring tracks with varying layers of intensity. “Taken” introduces listeners to a deeper sound, while “Surface” evolves into a melodic, progressive journey, and the title track brings forth a more pronounced melodic house and techno vibe. This structure is reflective of how DJs often curate their sets, gradually layering elements to enhance the experience.
The EP allows for versatility in DJ sets, as it maintains a consistent tempo while showcasing distinct musical characteristics across the three tracks. This approach provides DJs with greater options for integrating these pieces into their performances.
Continued Journey and Recent Releases
The release of Stronger follows an active period for Fernandes, which included notable collaborations and singles. His previous work, like the August 2026 track “Qasbah,” highlights his ongoing exploration of sound within the electronic music landscape. Continuing to engage with Goa’s nightlife ensures his productions resonate with both local artists and audiences.
Currently, Stronger is available through Pumproom Records, with the EP’s tracks “Taken,” “Surface,” and “Stronger” accessible on Beatport and other major streaming platforms.
