There’s something undeniably magnetic about Disco Shrine — a world where glossy mall-pop collides with underground club energy, and where bold personas, sharp humor, and unapologetic confidence take center stage. With her latest single “Spray Tan”, she leans fully into chaos, confidence, and cultural commentary, turning a missed pre-Coachella appointment into a full-blown anthem for carefree, hot-girl energy.
Blending theatrical DJ sets with a rapidly evolving sonic identity, Disco Shrine is carving out a space that feels equal parts playful and provocative. We caught up with her to talk about the story behind “Spray Tan,” the significance of #SprayTanSummer, her growing “c*ntiverse,” and what’s fueling this fearless new era.
The Birth of “Spray Tan”
“Spray Tan” is a bold, tongue-in-cheek anthem. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the track and what #SprayTanSummer means to you?
I wrote ‘Spray Tan’ after I couldn’t get a spray tan before Coachella because everything was booked, which I thought was hilarious. It made me think about how much pressure there is for girls to look hot all the time. I wanted to flip that concept and lean into it while also being in on the joke. #SprayTanSummer is about being hot, drink in hand, and not really caring who it’s for.
Capturing Euphoria
The song captures messy, euphoric energy. Was there a specific moment or night out that sparked this feeling?
It’s less about one specific night and more about that feeling when everything is kind of a mess, but you still go out anyway, and it ends up being the best night. Like your entire closet is on the floor, you’re running late, your life is a mess, but you still show up and show out anyway.
Crafting a Sonic Identity
Your sound blends glossy mall-pop with hard-hitting club elements. How do you approach building that signature Disco Shrine world sonically?
I honestly don’t overthink it too much. I’m naturally really playful and punny, so that shows up in my melodies and lyrics. When it comes to the production, it’s more about chasing a feeling and making sure it actually translates into something me and my friends would want to dance to in a club.

Energy on Stage
Your DJ sets are known for being high-energy, theatrical, and immersive. What kind of vibe do you want people to feel when they step into a Disco Shrine set?
I just want people to feel free, hot, and maybe a little unhinged, like they’re a part of something special.
Learning Through Experience
You recently opened for Zolita in LA and have shared stages with artists like Cobrah and Ayesha Erotica. What have those live experiences taught you about your performance style?
It’s taught me how much energy matters more than anything. You can’t rely on people knowing your music; you have to win them over in real time. It’s made me way more fearless on stage and more intentional about how I build a moment and put on a show.
Cultural Influences
Your Persian-American identity plays a role in your artistry. How does that influence your music, visuals, and overall creative direction?
It shows up in a lot of subtle ways, in the drama, the visuals, the way I think about beauty and presentation. There’s a certain intensity and pride in it that I think naturally comes through. It’s not always literal, but it’s part of the DNA of everything I make.
The Power of Personas
You’ve created this larger-than-life persona with “Persian Barbie” and “Disco Daddy.” How do those alter egos show up in your music and DJ sets?
They’re kind of just different sides of me, but exaggerated. Persian Barbie was more polished and hyper-feminine, while Disco Daddy is more unhinged and in control. I feel very Disco Daddy these days, and that definitely comes out more in my DJ sets.
The Future Awaits
With “Spray Tan” kicking off a new era, what’s next for you this year? More music, more shows, maybe even expanding the Barbie Rave universe?
This new era has been all about having fun, letting go, and helping others do the same. I’m building my very own “c*ntiverse” and have been having fun exploring world-building through music and visuals. You can expect a ton of new music this year, way more shows, and way more servings of “c*nt” with a side of vodka.
From embracing imperfection to building an entire universe rooted in confidence, chaos, and self-expression, Disco Shrine is clearly entering a defining chapter of her career. With more music, more shows, and an unapologetically bold vision on the horizon, this new era is shaping up to be her most exciting yet.
One thing’s certain — whether it’s behind the decks or through her larger-than-life personas, Disco Shrine isn’t just creating moments; she’s creating a movement. And if “Spray Tan” is any indication, we’re all invited to step into the chaos and enjoy the ride.
