Vermont rocker Grace Potter is set to release a highly anticipated new album this summer, just weeks before her beloved Grand Point North festival returns to Burlington. The album, aptly titled “Trespasser,” is due out on August 21 via the renowned record distributor Thirty Tigers. This marks another milestone in her illustrious career as she continues to make waves in the music industry.
Fans were given a preview of what to expect with the album’s lead single, “Love Me Not,” which dropped on May 15, coinciding with the album announcement. “Trespasser” is a 10-track effort that embraces the soulful rock sound she’s known for, featuring production by her husband, Eric Valentine. This album continues the thematic exploration of wanderlust that Potter first delved into with her 2023 release, “Mother Road.” Her lyrical narratives are inspired by the road trips between her Vermont roots and her part-time residence in Topanga Canyon, California, effectively bridging her two worlds through music.
Potter’s artistic journey spans nearly 25 years, cementing her place as a powerhouse in the industry. She began to capture local attention with her band, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, whose album “Nothing But the Water” resonated deeply within Vermont’s music scene in 2005. Their first national release, “This is Somewhere,” followed in 2007, and the band produced a total of four albums before Potter decided to embark on a solo career in 2015 with her debut solo album, “Midnight.” This evolution showcases her versatility and artistic growth, paving the way for her latest endeavors, including “Trespasser.”
