50,000+ Coming to Surrey’s FVDED, One of B.C.’s Biggest EDM Festivals
As the summer heats up, Surrey’s Holland Park is preparing to transform into a vibrant tapestry of beats, lights, and dancing feet. Over the upcoming July 3-4 weekend, FVDED in the Park is set to welcome close to 50,000 dance music enthusiasts for its 2026 edition—a milestone year for one of British Columbia’s premier electronic dance music (EDM) festivals.
Expanded Capacity and Lineup
This year marks the largest FVDED fest to date, with an expanded daily capacity of around 27,000 attendees, an increase from last year’s 24,000. Festival founder Alvaro Prol, who also heads Blueprint Events, has been planning this expansion for two years. “We’ve been working hard to take FVDED to the next level,” Prol explained. “Hitting 27,000 this year speaks to the growth and love for this festival.”
Attendees can expect a powerhouse lineup featuring close to 60 artists and DJs, including well-known names such as Dom Dolla, Fisher, Disco Lines, and Griz. These talented performers are set to take the stage across four distinct stages: the Pacific main stage, Northwest Tent, Forest Stage, and Propagate.
Embracing Growth and Future Aspirations
The aspiration for FVDED doesn’t end with this year’s expansion. Prol hinted at the exciting possibility of moving to a three-day format in the future. “It’s definitely a conversation,” he said. “We’ve faced challenges, particularly during COVID, but we’ve emerged stronger and eager to provide more for our community and attendees.”
The potential for future growth reflects not just the festival’s ambition but also its commitment to enriching Surrey’s cultural landscape and local economy. Prol emphasized that the aim to offer more artists means more opportunities and increased economic benefits for the area.
The Artistic Journey: Dom Dolla
As FVDED gears up for another fantastic year, one notable artist stands out as a major headliner: Dom Dolla. Once a fresh talent booked by Prol at a small Vancouver dance club, Dom has exploded onto the global stage. “He’s an absolute behemoth of an artist now,” Prol remarked, recalling their early days together. “Booking him at the start of his journey and watching him evolve into a headliner has been one of my favorite parts of promoting.”
Prol’s experience highlights a unique aspect of the festival: the personal connections forged through music and performance. These relationships not only enrich the festival’s narrative but also offer attendees an authentic glimpse into the growth of artists they may have heard of but might not have seen rising through the ranks.
The Evolution of FVDED
FVDED in the Park has seen significant evolution since its inception in 2015, starting with notable headliners like Deadmau5 and The Weeknd. As the festival has flourished alongside increasing interest in electronic dance music, Prol noted, “The demand is there; dance music has entered the mainstream and is now a household genre.”
The festival’s adaptation to larger crowds and the mainstream music scene mirrors the changing landscape of electronic music. Where once it was relegated to underground venues, now it pulses through every major city and festival across the globe.
Enhancements and Modifications
This year, festival-goers can look forward to various modifications designed to improve the overall experience. Prol is eager to create an area that allows for more room to dance and enjoy performances. “The main stage will have an expanded dance floor to really let people express themselves,” he mentioned. Other stages, like Propagate and Forest Stage, will also feature new designs, integrating elements of nature to create a more immersive atmosphere.
Festival Operations Amid FIFA World Cup Excitement
Paralleling the excitement of FVDED, Prol is also busy with the FIFA World Cup activities. Blueprint Events manages several venues, including a bustling bar location in the Granville Street fan zone in Vancouver. “At first, I thought FIFA would be manageable, but it has been incredible—and just out of hand—but in the best way,” he shared, highlighting the heightened atmosphere surrounding the sports event.
When asked about future ventures in Surrey, Prol reaffirmed his connection to the community, indicating ongoing discussions for establishing a Good Co. location in the city. “We’re always in talks with Surrey’s city and business development teams. It’s important for Blueprint to have a presence here, and we’re exploring what would fit best.”
A Festival to Remember
With its reimagined capacity, stellar lineup, and enhancements aimed at elevating the experience, FVDED in the Park is gearing up to deliver an unforgettable weekend. For dance music fans in Surrey and beyond, this festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of music, community, and the culture of electronic dance—one not to be missed.
