Above & Beyond have some exhilarating news for electronic music lovers: the return of their flagship compilation series with Anjunabeats Volume 17. This marks its first installment in a remarkable four years, a period during which fans have been waiting with bated breath. The last time we enjoyed such a musical feast, pandemic-related facemasks were still a part of our daily lives, a reminder of how much has changed since then.
Scheduled for release on June 5th, this eagerly anticipated compilation will feature 35 tracks divided over two distinct mixes. These mixes aim to encapsulate the current evolution of the Anjunabeats sound, highlighting both the emerging talents that are now at the forefront of the scene and the longstanding veterans who have significantly contributed to the legacy of this iconic label over its 20+ years in existence.
Curated not just in Above & Beyond’s London studio but also during their recent global tour, Anjunabeats Volume 17 is a carefully crafted showcase of both established artists and emerging talents who are shaping the future of the label. The compilation traverses an array of sounds—from deep, progressive notes that evoke profound emotions to high-energy tracks brimming with festival vibes—making it a true representation of over two decades of influence on electronic music.
In their own words, the trio stated, “Following the release of Bigger Than All Of Us, it felt important for this next chapter to celebrate the artists that make Anjunabeats such an exciting label to be a part of.” They emphasize that “Volume 17 includes music from artists we’ve worked with for years as well as new faces representing the future of the label.” This melding of the old and new highlights the label’s commitment to innovation while honoring its rich heritage.
Adding another layer of excitement, Volume 17 will also see the release of a first-ever vinyl pressing. This special edition features twelve tracks handpicked by the trio, creating a personal touch for collectors and audiophiles alike. To further amplify the experience, there will be a unique compilation release party in London, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a select few lucky fans who can enter a raffle by purchasing tickets to a local show.
‘When I Look In Your Eyes’
Kicking off the compilation is the eagerly anticipated track ‘When I Look In Your Eyes‘. This collaboration with the beloved vocalist and Trance legend, Justine Suissa, has been a long time in the making. The track first premiered before an electrifying audience of 15,000 at Group Therapy 600 in Mexico City two years ago, becoming one of the most requested IDs throughout the band’s recent world tour.
‘When I Look In Your Eyes’ finds an exquisite balance between the more tranquil piano-driven styles seen in the BTAOU album and the high-energy club tracks that birthed the band’s early success. It captures the emotional core that fans adore while engaging them with relentless tension and euphoric Progressive Trance elements, perfect for those mesmerizing live performances.
