Masters Zagreb returns this Friday, May 8, with a lineup rooted in deep sound system culture, bass-driven experimentation and underground electronic music that moves beyond strict genre boundaries.
For the latest edition at the beloved Zagreb club, Masters welcomes London-based producer Sub Basics alongside Montreal artist and researcher SIM, while Croatian underground veteran Iggy Dope takes care of both intro and outro duties throughout the night.
The booking reflects the direction Masters Zagreb has consistently cultivated over the years — intimate club experiences centered around carefully selected artists with strong musical identities and a genuine connection to underground culture.
Sub Basics arrives in Zagreb following years of shaping a distinctive sound that moves fluidly between dubstep, UK bass, dub techno, techno and stripped-back house rhythms. Known for precise low-end pressure and minimalist structures built for proper soundsystem environments, his releases have appeared on respected underground labels including Infernal Sounds, Foundation Audio, Lion Charge, Juan Forte and Animalia, alongside his own imprint Temple Of Sound.
Rather than chasing trends, Sub Basics has developed a sound focused on weight, space and tension — music designed to be physically experienced inside dark club spaces and immersive sound environments.
Joining him is Montreal-based artist SIM, whose work connects electronic music, research and community-building through what he describes as “Slow Tech.” Drawing influence from dub, dancehall, jungle and techno, the concept explores slower-moving but deeply immersive rhythmic spaces where atmosphere and intention become central to the dancefloor experience.
At a time when many club nights prioritize speed and intensity, SIM’s approach offers something more patient and emotionally layered, grounded in the philosophy of sound system culture as a place for connection and shared experience.
Completing the evening is Iggy Dope, one of Croatia’s long-standing underground figures and founder of Etherwerkz, whose selections continue to bridge generations of regional electronic music culture with effortless precision.
Inside the intimate environment of Masters Zagreb, Friday’s event promises a night shaped less by genre labels and more by depth, sound and carefully built energy from start to finish.
