50,000+ Coming to FVDED in Surrey, Home to Biggest EDM Music Fest Around
A Festival Like No Other
This year, from July 3-4, nearly 50,000 dance music enthusiasts will converge on Holland Park for the anticipated 2026 edition of FVDED in the Park. Hailed as one of British Columbia’s premier electronic dance music (EDM) festivals, FVDED continues to grow and evolve, promising a vibrant atmosphere and an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Expansion and Capacity
The festival’s founder, Alvaro Prol, who leads Blueprint Events, has been working tirelessly to expand FVDED. Following last year’s sold-out crowds—with a daily capacity of 24,000—this year’s festival has set its sights even higher, upping the limit to approximately 27,000 for each day. “We’ve been working for a couple of years now to expand a bit,” Prol explains, reflecting the high demand and popularity of the event.
Future Growth
The vision for FVDED isn’t just limited to this year. Prol hinted at the potential for future expansion to a full three-day festival. “Going three days in the future is definitely a conversation,” he said, expressing optimism for the festival’s growth and stability. “The festival’s thriving; the future is really bright. To be able to offer more artists and more opportunity to Surrey is definitely something we would love to do.” This ambition serves as a testament to the resurgence of live events post-pandemic, illustrating a blossoming artistic community.
Star-Studded Lineup
This year’s lineup is nothing short of spectacular, featuring an impressive roster of nearly 60 artists and DJs. Notable names include Dom Dolla, Fisher, Disco Lines, and Griz, all scheduled to perform on four stages: the Pacific Main Stage, Northwest Tent, Forest Stage, and the Propagate Stage. The anticipation is palpable, especially for the Saturday headliner, Dom Dolla, who has soared to fame since Prol first booked him to play in a small Vancouver club. “He’s an absolute behemoth of an artist now,” Prol noted, reminiscing about those early days of discovering talent.
A Historical Event
FVDED began in 2015 with iconic headliners like Deadmau5 and The Weeknd, riding the wave of growing interest in dance music in the region. Over the years, it has developed into a celebration of not only the music but also the culture surrounding it. Prol acknowledges the festival’s evolution: “The demand is there; the music is a hit. It’s mainstream now,” highlighting that dance music has become a staple in popular culture.
Enhancements for Attendees
This year, festival organizers are implementing various modifications to enhance the experience for attendees. Prol promises a visually stunning site, including an expanded main dance floor at the Pacific Stage and revamped configurations for the Forest and Propagate stages, ensuring ample space for revelers to dance and enjoy the festival atmosphere. Such improvements reflect the organizers’ commitment to providing an optimal experience for festival-goers.
Balancing Responsibilities
Amidst the preparations for FVDED, Prol is also busy managing his other ventures, such as the popular Good Co. bars, including the bustling venue in the Granville Street fan zone during the FIFA World Cup. “I thought FIFA was going to be a thing, but I didn’t think it was going to be oh my god, out of hand. It’s been incredible on Granville Street,” he said, revealing the high energy and excitement around the event.
Looking Ahead in Surrey
When asked about the possibility of opening a Good Co. establishment in Surrey, Prol expressed a strong interest. “We’re always talking to Surrey, active with the city and business improvement people,” he said. “I think Blueprint has to own and operate some sort of establishment in Surrey.” This indicates not just a commitment to the festival, but also a desire to bolster the local economy and community through exciting new venues.
As FVDED in the Park gears up for its biggest year yet, both attendees and organizers are eager to witness how this event continues to shape the EDM landscape in Surrey and beyond.
