Following the success of Move Your Feet, their debut release on mau5trap, Italian-Venezuelan producer, DJ, and content creator Chris Candela (CDCVLOGS) reunites with Mexican producer AOSM for their second release on deadmau5’s prestigious label. This time, both artists were invited by mau5trap to create the official remix of Shined On Me, the iconic classic by Nicola Fasano, Karl8 & Andrea Monta, reimagining the track through a darker, more contemporary lens. The result is a high-energy production that blends Electro House, Bass House, and subtle Tech House influences, preserving the spirit of the original while adapting it to today’s club and festival sound. Deep basslines, aggressive synths, and carefully crafted melodic elements transform the track into a completely refreshed version built for the dancefloor.
How Chris Candela and AOSM Reworked Shined On Me
Chris Candela explained how the opportunity came from mau5trap and why the collaboration with AOSM developed so naturally:
“After hearing some of the projects AOSM and I had been working on, the mau5trap team felt we could bring a fresh perspective to this classic. They invited us to create the remix, and less than a week later, it was finished.
Everything came together very naturally. We had just wrapped up Move Your Feet, our first release on the label, and AOSM had also recently released his remix of my track Nasty, alongside Nico Falla. We were both in the same creative headspace, which made the entire process flow effortlessly.
If you listen to AOSM’s remix of Nasty, you’ll notice some of the ideas and influences that ultimately found their way into Shined On Me. He has a very distinctive sound and an incredible creative vision. It’s always a pleasure working with him.
What probably surprises me the most is that the remix was personally approved by deadmau5 himself. That always puts a smile on my face.”
AOSM discussed the darker production direction, the different versions they worked through, and what the official remix represents for his career:
“The main idea was to create a dark atmosphere by blending Techno and Bass House elements into a fairly experimental approach, drawing inspiration from artists like Matroda and Chris Lake.
In less than a week, we went through several different versions. We experimented with ideas that were much more melodic, others that were much more aggressive, and eventually found the perfect balance that we both loved. Sometimes the best thing you can do is stop overthinking and simply let the music flow.
Working with Chris Candela means creativity, teamwork, efficiency, professionalism, and a seamless creative process. He’s one of the producers I’ve had the best experience working with because he’s genuinely involved in every detail of the project and maintains the same level of commitment even when deadlines are extremely tight.
As a producer from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, having the opportunity to officially remix international artists like Nicola Fasano, Karl8, and Andrea Monta is a major milestone in my career. I hope this release opens new doors for emerging artists who, like me, are striving to take their music to audiences around the world.
To anyone producing music from a place where the EDM scene is still small, my advice is simple: don’t give up. It may not be easy in your hometown, but the world is much bigger, and there will always be people out there waiting to discover your music.”
This release further strengthens Chris Candela’s relationship with mau5trap, one of the most influential labels in electronic music. Currently, he is preparing new music for the upcoming months, with several releases already scheduled beginning in August. Alongside his career as a producer and DJ, he remains highly active as a content creator and music mentor from his home base in Mallorca, Spain, where he continues to expand his international presence across both festivals and clubs. With this latest release, the artist also aims to further establish himself within the Spanish and European touring circuit while opening the door to new collaborations with promoters and events across the region.
