The Hacker Belgrade event arrives at Klub 20/44 on May 23, bringing one of electronic music’s most influential underground artists to the Serbian capital for a special night celebrating New York-based label Samo Records.
Known for shaping generations of electro, EBM and dark club music, The Hacker remains a defining figure whose sound continues influencing both underground dancefloors and contemporary electronic production culture decades into his career.
The French producer and DJ joins Facets, founder of Samo Records, for an evening focused on darker textures, moody atmospheres and the more hypnotic side of underground electronic music.
The Hacker Belgrade booking feels especially fitting inside Klub 20/44, a venue long connected to alternative nightlife culture and carefully curated electronic programming. Floating on the Sava river, the club has built an identity around intimate dancefloors, underground energy and artists whose sound exists outside mainstream club trends.
For many electronic music fans, The Hacker represents a direct connection to the evolution of electro and dark wave-infused club music from the late 1990s onward. Through releases on labels such as International DeeJay Gigolo and collaborations with Miss Kittin, his productions helped define an era where electroclash, EBM and industrial aesthetics collided with underground techno culture.
At the same time, his sets continue evolving beyond nostalgia, balancing classic machine-driven tension with contemporary club dynamics and cold analog energy that still feels deeply physical on modern dancefloors.
Joining him is Facets, whose Samo Records imprint has quickly gained attention for exploring darker and emotionally heavier corners of electronic music. The label’s direction leans into mood, atmosphere and cinematic tension rather than peak-time functionality, creating a sound identity that aligns naturally with both The Hacker’s legacy and the atmosphere surrounding Klub 20/44 itself.
The event also reflects a wider return of interest in darker electronic aesthetics across club culture. Electro, EBM and wave-influenced sounds have steadily re-emerged within underground nightlife over recent years, influencing everything from fashion and visual identity to modern techno and club programming.
In that context, The Hacker Belgrade stands less as a nostalgic booking and more as a meeting point between past influence and current underground momentum.
On May 23, Klub 20/44 hosts a night dedicated to shadowy grooves, machine funk and one of electronic music’s true underground icons.
