A SportChek location in southeast Edmonton will be closing its doors this June, the Canadian Tire Corporation tells Daily Hive.
Whispers about the closure popped up on social media last week, and the Canadian Tire Corporation stated on Monday morning that SportChek will be closing its Tamarack store, located at 3737 17th St. NW, building A2, with the last day of business scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026.
“Edmonton remains an important market for SportChek, with multiple locations across the city. Team members at the Tamarack location have been offered the opportunity to relocate to other SportChek stores within the local network,” the juggernaut Canadian retail corporation said.
With the closure of the Tamarack store set for June, there will just be four SportChek stores left in Edmonton, along with single stores in the surrounding communities of Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Spruce Grove, and Leduc.
If you’re on the hunt for some new stores that have popped up in and around Edmonton, a new affordable grocery store opened in St. Albert earlier this year, and a popular Latin market is opening a new location in the city soon.
