This July, Holland Park in Surrey will transform from a serene urban oasis into a pulsating hub of energy and rhythm as close to 50,000 dance music enthusiasts descend upon the city for the 2026 edition of FVDED in the Park, one of the largest electronic dance music (EDM) festivals in British Columbia. Set to take place over two days, July 3-4, the festival boasts an impressive lineup featuring close to 60 artists and DJs, marking a significant leap from last year’s crowd capacity.

Expanding Horizons

The growth of FVDED in the Park reflects the festival’s increasing popularity and the vibrant culture surrounding electronic music. Festival founder and Blueprint Events boss, Alvaro Prol, emphasizes the careful planning that has led to this year’s expansion. “We’ve been working for a couple of years now to expand a bit,” Prol explains. The change in daily capacity—from 24,000 last year to approximately 27,000 this year—underscores the overwhelming demand for dance music experiences in the region.

The vision for FVDED is far-reaching, with potential discussions about expanding to a three-day format in the future. “Going three days in the future is the vision,” Prol shares, indicating a commitment to continually evolve and improve the festival experience. In the wake of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Prol is thrilled that the festival is thriving, with the future looking exceptionally bright.

An All-Star Lineup

This year’s festival promises an electrifying lineup, featuring headliners like Dom Dolla, Fisher, and Griz, among others. Attendees can expect to see performances across four meticulously designed stages: the Pacific main stage, Northwest Tent, Forest Stage, and Propagate. Saturday’s main act, Dom Dolla, is a notable highlight. Prol recalls the artist’s humble beginnings, illustrating how he once booked Dolla for a small venue in Vancouver, saying, “He’s an absolute behemoth of an artist now, incredible.” This trajectory of growth and the relationships formed along the way truly capture the spirit of FVDED.

This summer, Prol is not just focused on FVDED; he’s also involved with the excitement surrounding the FIFA World Cup. His company, Blueprint, owns and operates Good Co. bars, including a prime location in Vancouver’s Granville Street fan zone. “It’s been incredible on Granville Street,” he reflects, showcasing how the vibrant nightlife in Surrey and Vancouver is an integral part of the region’s cultural tapestry.
