Cloonee, Dombresky and Mindchatter, will perform at Spanos Stadium on Sept. 20. Electronic artist duo Shermanology and San Luis Obispo resident HAUWARD will join the headliners. Tickets start at $55 and are available to anyone 18 years or older, according to university spokesperson Keegan Koberl.
Jonny Vochatzer has seen his friends from bigger schools, like USC and Berkeley, get big artists perform at their campuses. The business administration senior thinks it is cool to have Cal Poly bring big artists to his campus. He started DJing three years ago and has always looked up to Cloonee.
“It’s really cool that he’s coming to Cal Poly because I wouldn’t have expected somebody so big to come to a city like San Luis Obispo,” Vochatzer said.
Political science junior Dylan Riley is a fan of Mindchatter, Dombresky and Shermanology. He said he is excited to see more EDM acts in San Luis Obispo, especially HAUWARD.
“Vinny, who performs under HAUWARD, is a really close friend of mine so I’m stoked that he is getting to open,” Riley said. “I know that he has been so excited.
Cloonee concert comes amidst Cal Poly’s long EDM history
Cal Poly hosted Morning on the Green– A Mustang Music Festival on March 15 from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Lower Sports Complex as an alternative to the traditional St Patrick’s Day celebrations.

“Cal Poly since 2014 has always seem to have this very heavy adversity towards [electronic dance music] EDM events,” Riley said. “I hope that this signals a kind of change for Cal Poly to be more embracing of certain events.”
In 2014, Cal Poly brought Steve Aoki to the Recreation Center for a concert. During the show, six people needed medical attention. Law enforcement arrested fourteen people, 13 for disorderly conduct, public intoxication, or being under the influence and one for drug possession.

Riley said the Max Styler and Steve Aoki performances were a bump in the road. Since they’ve had Zhu and Galantis for Mustangs on the Green and this upcoming show in September, he is hoping it is a turning point for Cal Poly on-campus events.
Cloonee concert information
Koberl said that holding outdoor community events such as concerts, rodeos and non-Cal Poly athletic events has been a goal of the university
“This concert is the first in what is hoped to be an exciting line up of future events,” Koberl said.
“I think that Spanos is such an awesome venue because it is going to be an event that you physically can’t miss. If you don’t go to this event, you’re going to hear this event from most of the places you live,” Riley said.
LED Presents, a San Diego music event production company, put the event together. General sale of tickets opened on July 30 at 12 P.M. P.S.T according to Koberl. The concert will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end by 10 p.m. There are 12,000 tickets available.
For all concert attendees, the clear bag policy will allow them to bring one clear bag (12″ x 6″ x 12″) and a clutch-sized bag, according to Koberl.
Cloonee’s most popular songs include “Stephanie,” “X-Rated,” “Sippin’ Yak,” and “Mi Amor.”
